ABOUT ME

Floriana
Maione

Licensed Psychologyst

Let me introduce myself, my name is Floriana Maione a psychologist fluent in both Italian and English, with over 10 years of practice with international clients. I hold a Bachelor and a Master’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Rome La Sapienza. I then pursued further education with a four-year Graduate School program in Systemic-Relational Psychotherapy and additional training in Family Mediation. Motivated by my personal interest in therapeutic practices, I later completed advanced training in Clinical Hypnosis.

After running my own practice in Amsterdam for several years, I relocated to Rome and now offer  therapy services between the two cities. I specialize in providing counseling and therapy for individuals, couples, and families dealing with a variety of challenges, including relationship and family issues, communication difficulties, separation and divorce, depression, anxiety, burnout, work-related stress, phobias, codependency, love addiction, sleep disorders, and major life transitions.

I am a certified psychologist and psychotherapist, a member of the Italian Institute of Psychologists (Ordine degli Psicologi del Lazio, nr° 20873), and the Italian Society of Hypnosis.

On a personal note, I’m a dog lover and an avid reader. If I hadn’t become a psychologist, I would have loved to pursue a career in architecture.

About me

Therapy Approach

My therapeutic approach consists of two different methodologies – Systemic Relational Therapy and Clinical Hypnosis.

HOW IT WORKS

Systemic-Relational Therapy

Systemic-Relational Therapy focuses on the dynamics of human relationships, emphasizing interactions over individual behavior. Focused on resources and based on Systemic Thinking

Key principles:

  • Analysis of emotional connections and communication patterns;
  • Exploration of self-perception and personal reality in relation to others;
  • Grounded in General Systems Theory (L. von Bertalanffy, 1969), which highlights how a change in one part of a system affects the whole.

Applications:

  • Couples and families are viewed as interconnected systems shaped by emotional and relational bonds;
  • Emotional distress is often rooted in relational imbalances rather than isolated individual issues;
  • Particularly effective in couples and family therapy contexts.

Hypnosys

Hypnosis is often misrepresented in movies and popular media. In reality, therapeutic hypnosis is a state of deep, focused awareness, where the client remains in active dialogue with the therapist.

What it is:

  • A scientifically recognized method used to access inner resources and promote change;
  • A gentle and indirect approach that uses metaphors, body language, and storytelling;
  • A safe and collaborative process tailored to individual needs.

Therapeutic benefits:

Clinical hypnosis is effective in treating a range of conditions, including:

  • Anxiety, depression, and trauma;
  • Phobias and stress-related issues;
  • Addictions and eating disorders;
  • Chronic pain, fibromyalgia, and sleep problems;
  • Relational and work-related difficulties.

Many clients report significant improvements through hypnosis, particularly when addressing emotional blocks and stress-related symptoms.
